Base station communication modem

Range of Symons radio stations, two-in-one, for dynamic radio communication networking with self-healing structure like DM 1-band MESH networks

Base station

Designation

Wideband base station radio communication modem is used in peer-to-peer dynamic radio communication networking with self-healing structure like DM 1-band MESH networks. Radio modem in radio network can serve as a terminal device or a repeater. Radio modem transmits and receives data from the end user via a radio modem interface.

New features

Radio modem signals and communication protocols ensure efficient data transmission over the air with high resistance to interference and low signal detection. High-order QAM and OFDM signals, and TDMA and MESH-network protocols applied; high-speed IP data flow routing supported, data protection using high efficiency noise-resistant coding.

Effectiveness

Radio modem design is developed using the latest Software Defined Radio (SDR) technology. The radio modem design is based on the software upgrade concept without hardware replacement.

Professional mobile radio communication SDR base station network

Professional mobile radio communication SDR base station is based on the uniform digital platform and used in corporate and departmental mobile communication networks.

Due to its SDR architecture the base station can operate in different modes depending on the software installed (downloaded) without changes in hardware.

The primary mode is APCO P25 radio communication in 12.5 kHz VHF service band with low-rate voice and data transmission support.

A modular base station architecture consists of a processing unit, transmitter and exciter modules and an amplifier. Transmitter and exciter are combined in one emission unit, and up to 3 emission units can be used in the station.

Key Features

Communication through a FDMA 12.5 kHz channel (APCO P 25). Voice digital coding by means of IMBE (Improved Multiband Excitation) vocoder. Compatible with subscriber's analog equipment (handheld and mobile radio stations).

Main Features

  • Allocated, peer-to-peer, SDR network of mesh-topology - all peer-to-peer nodes in Mesh-network
  • Automatic connection of new nodes
  • Redirection of data flow via other nodes to ensure fail-safe operation when connection to some nodes is lost
  • Network as a 'wire' for data sources
  • Any data streaming supported by the system
  • Joining data streams from different sources
  • Automatic router adding to existing networks
  • No need to configure or re-configure routers and the whole network while deployment or reconfiguration
  • Unattended automatic network deployment
  • Network deployment in no time
  • Network parameters are not required
  • Effective data streaming distribution using adaptive routing protocols
  • Reliable fail-safe network in case of router malfunctions due to dynamic routing and automatic route change
  • Larger network without affecting its performance
  • Integration with other types of networks

Control (combat) network is enhanced by the radio network simulation system in tactical (masking radio network) ensuring required network parameters setting (network load, time of dispatch and message length, working frequencies according to one or more scenarios, masking texts) and following the scenario.

Masking network can distract enemy signal intelligence/electronic warfare resources and save the real combat nets.

Retransmission using compact aerostats, UAS, kites (ensuring radio network between divisions with 5…7 km up to 250 … 300 km coverage).

Tasks to be solved by the product

  • Communication network robustnes (as a combat control network basic concept)
  • Message delivery improvement regardless of control hierarchy (the right data to the right place)
  • Communication (combat control) network fail safety and reliability improvement
  • Signature masking improvement for the communication network component
  • Communication quality improvement (data exchange accuracy) at higher data exchange rate
  • Simultaneous exchange of all data (voice, data, graphic and video images) of various security level in real time via the same communication channel
  • Control system masking improvement (transmission security, transmitted data security)
  • Voice and data coding at all network sections

Problem-solving functions

  • A range of unified versatile radio stations and switches with hardware and functional compatibility, used to ensure the transmitter program control, generation of radio signals with required parameters (frequency band, output power, modulation and coding parameters at noise changes); to apply data exchange protocols for smooth data transfer in different conditions
  • Easy operation and maintenance, high robustness
  • Noise-resistant operation modes (wideband signals) combining adaptive and software techniques of frequency reconstruction with simple and complex (wideband) signals, adaptive control of transmitter output power and data transfer rate, use of noise-resistant codes with self-healing function
  • Use of integrated data coders
  • Construction of self-organizing ad-hoc networks where every radio station in the network can serve as a router
